We offer radon measurements in homes, workplaces and schools.

Geoservizi is a measurement service recognised by the canton and the FOPH, and therefore offers a full range of services for radon measurements in homes, workplaces, and schools. We also have consultants who can plan subsequent remediation if necessary.

Here is an overview of the proposed measurements:

1. Long-Term Measurement (passive instruments, dosimeters)

• Duration and period: ≥ 90 days (October to March only, in the winter season with heating on)
• Legal Value: Recognised
• Obligation: Sending Data to Authorities
• Ideal for: Those who have a suitable waiting time, seek the only recognised measurement with legal value and agree to report the results to the authorities. Such a measurement offers a validated figure over the long term.
• Methodology: Installation of dosimeters in the measuring rooms and recovery after 90 days (min) of exposure. Sending to laboratory where nuclear trace readings are taken and the average radon concentration for the room where exposed is calculated. Issuing of an official certificate after entering the data into the federal database.
• Variants: a) with installation and retrieval of dosimeters by our technician b) by postal dispatch of dosimeters and instructions (Radon Kit, only valid for single-family homes)

2. Short-Term Measurement (Active Instruments)

• Duration and period: ≥ 5 days (always)
• Legal value: Not recognised
• Obligation: No data transmission to authorities
• Ideal for: Those who want a quick and indicative measurement with professional, but not certified instruments. Very useful for anyone wishing to analyse radon in their home or workplace in order to plan a possible remediation or in anticipation of a renovation, sale or purchase.
• Methodology: placement of instruments in sensitive rooms, measurement ≥ 5 days with stable measurement conditions, data download and provision of a measurement report with risks and criticality of the building.

3. FOPH Short Duration Measurement (METAS-certified active instruments)

• Duration and period: ≥ 5 days (always)
• Legal value: Not recognised
• Obligation: Optional data submission
• Ideal for: Those looking for a quick and informative measurement in accordance with the FOPH's short duration procedure with METAS-certified instruments. Suitable for imminent real estate transactions where the measurement is to be officially attached to the deed of sale and purchase, where the long duration measurement cannot be expected.
• Methodology: Placement of certified instruments in sensitive rooms established according to FOPH guide, measurement ≥ 5 days with stable measurement conditions, data download and building classification according to FOPH methodology, report writing.

4. Sniffing Measurement (Active Instruments with Suction Pump)

• Duration and period: ≥ 1 hour (always)
• Legal value: Not recognised
• Obligation: No data transmission to authorities
• Ideal for: Those who wish to know the instantaneous radon concentration, perform soil analysis and identify gas pathways in a building that has already been identified as contaminated or at risk.
• Methodology: itinerant analysis in the building with an instrument equipped with a suction pump, identification of critical radon entry points or values directly from the soil and drafting of a report.
